Autohomes Kamper roof locks

Hey guys

I am trying to locate the original lock housing for an Autohomes Kamper roof (front and back). Iv been putting it off for ages, but following some high winds last weekend I decided I no longer enjoy a self elevating roof and the total lack of steering that comes as a result.... so time to invest in a lock.

It turns out the Kamper roof use to have a lock at the rear to hold the back down, but someone has removed mine at some point in the first 18 years of its life. Cannot imagine why as it the ability to lock the roof seems quite important.

Any thoughts on sourcing one.... and any thoughts on getting the front replaced before it rusts all the way through.

I used to have one of these roofs. The rear lock needs to be well adjusted, or it doesn't release automatically when raising the roof, so then it gets wrenched again and again and then doesn't work at all. So probably removed for this reason. An external rubber bonnet catch (search fleabay for "bonnet catch") would be a cheap and reliable alternative, but obviously won't unlock automatically.

That front lock looks like an easy repair. Take it off, cut off the rusty bottom bit, then bolt/rivet/weld on a plate. In fact it could probably be done in situ. Keep the front lock well greased though, cos if it sticks and the cable breaks, then you do have a problem.
