Yo! This time next year I am going to drive my t25 to Australia. It is currently running a 1.9 DG petrol and after chatting to a few people it looks like doing a swap to a 1.9 diesel 1Y or similar will not only save money on fuel and have fewer issues on the trip, but will probably cost less to install than prepping the current engine and surrounding components to be able to do such a journey.
I'm looking for further advice on wether or not this is the best option, and how to go about it.
Cheers

Was the 1y in it when you got it or did you do a swap?Chiefy wrote:I have the 1y in mine..... Goes forever on £40 of diesel![]()

Re: 1.9 DG to 1.9 1Y
I did a 2.1 DJ to 1Z Tdi swap earlier this year, it was relatively straight forward, I collected all the engine parts before I started from here and there and the real difficulty I had was that water pipes on the petrol were a different than the diesel ones so I ended up extending them with some s/s tube to match them up
go for it
