Hook up - can i use a toastie maker?

I bought a cheapo toastie maker for the van but bottled using it in case I tripped the electrics. Has any one used one on hook up?

You should have an RCD in the van and another on the box the hook-up lead plugs into, so what's to worry about? The current a hook-up varies from site to site so you won't know until you try.

You probably need a 13amp hook up for a toastie maker.
Some sites i've used only have 6-10 amps.

An RCD will not make any difference to overload. It is the mcb that will protect from that.

We now use so many electrical items when on hook up ( Because we pay for the electricity in the pitch fee so wit saves using the gas)

We currently use:

• Electric toaster
  Electric sandwich maker
  2KW fan heater
  Electric kettle
  Hairdryer
  Halogen oven
  Electric mini air compressor for inflating/deflating our inflatable sofa/airbed

I make sure that everything is below 2KW and never have things on that add up to more than 2KW at the same time. With experimentation we have found that we can boil a kettle whilst doing toast or have the fan heater on it's half setting. Our fridge is always on electric when hooked up but I do ignore that.
The only time our RCD/MCB occasionally trips is when the halogen oven is initially started, I just reset the switch and the oven doesn't trip it again.

We have found that the cheap and cheerful Asda/Tesco/Morrisons own brand small electrical goods are usually lower power than the bigger named brands.

The revelation of using a cordless kettle and popping a couple of slices of toast in the toaster first thing in the morning and not have to watch to see when they are boiling/done was wonderful, just like being at home!!!

The number of times we've seen people in £50k+ brand spankin' fridge-freezers using an Argos-style electric hotplate to cook on, to save using a few pence of gas. Always makes me chuckle.
