what wheels?, now confused.,
hi, need to start looking at a set of wheels to fit to a standard 2wd bus, i think we need a tyre size of 205 or 195 70 15, to gain a slightly larger rolling diameter over the 185/14, so need a set of 15" wheels(pref. steels) have gone through the archive and guess the best bet for ease is merc, but from what model??, also does anyone know if these tyre sizes are realistic for a stock bus?. As always i guess the aim is for slightly higher m/way speed without fuel compromise(if poss). am prepared to lift the suspension slightly with those spring spacers if advisable. any suggestions would be a great help at the mo. cheers.

Well I for one have merc c class 15 inch alloys , and the rolling radius is the same so no worries with the speedo!

I've got Merc ML 16" with 215/65 which give me a 5% increase in size.
My standard 1,6TD motor copes very well.

Re: what wheels?, now confused.,
in the wiki is a tyre size calculator..
and there's one on brickyard
the original size tyre on a steel wheel was 185/82 X 14 which is a Commercial tyre with a "C" after the rim size
So fitting a 215/60 X 16 is only 1.53% bigger or 10mm on the circumference.

Re: what wheels?, now confused.,
Hi, thanks for the ideas, some interesting stuff, its running standard (good) 1.6 td jx, 5 speed, trouble i have is, dont want to go down the low pro tyre route due to various tracks driven whilst camping in scotland etc, so need a good height sidewall(a show bus it aint). just wanna know what wheel will bolt straight on without the need of spacers/drilling etc, finding the measurements(pcd? etc) a wee bit confusing( think i've been looking at it for too long). cheers.

Ideal is Merc 1264002802. These are 15" and don't require spacers. Speedo comes out almost spot on with 195 70 15 tyres (ask me how I know
). I have two up for sale if you can locate another two. All the Germans use them as they clear sliding door nicely but give a wider track, and being 15", more competitive tyre prices.

Re: what wheels?, now confused.,
Im in the process of fitting/refurbing some 16" merc steels i got from german ebay (there are lots, and quite cheap). My set was around £110 posted, nice condition but black.
Here is my thread https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=135826
BUT ive not fitted tyres yet, so cannot speak from driving experience. As covkid says he has proven good success with his ones.

The 16" ones are generally cheaper than the 15" variant.
