I was looking at those extenders but wasn't sure if the were any good. I think I might invest now, I've seen them for around 15quids on fleabay so might grab one if it puts the lever in a better position.
its a good Idea if you wanna change the thread size, like baj25 said would be nice and simple to just screw onto your existing lever

I extended my gear stick using one of those kinked extenders (er, obviously...), it puts gearknob in a much better place than standard. If you could get one of those (or make one, piece of P really) with 14mm female and 12mm top end, job done. If you bought a 14/14mm one, be a doddle to put a 12mm thread on top. HTH, Bri
