vwt25 pump not working

Post by definitely widget »

hello there. my husband recently purchased a fab t25. she runs quite well, most of her is ok. a little rust but nothing to serious. unfortunately our pump for the water does not work. You have to press a button on the side of the sink and its meant to come up. we are very new to this and we have been told that the pump on this model is electric. where do i look ? She was built in 1987 and is a devon caravelle. any help would be appreciated. no water is being pumped through.

thanking you kindly

The pump is usually dangling in the water inside the fresh water tank. It should have two wires and one tube coming out of the top.

First check that when you operate the switch, you get 12V at the connections to the pump. If you do, it's the pump at fault, if not it's the switch or the electrical wiring, or a fuse blown. Something like that.

It may be corroded due to water getting in, in which case a new pump is called for. They are available from caravan repairers/ spares shops and aren't expensive.

It may have a bit of grit jammed in the works, in which case it is just posible that reversing the electrical connections and switching on for just an instant might kick out the obstruction. Or not, then you will need a new pump, as above.
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.
