Have I got the correct belt?

Post by Vitamins »

Hi folks

My alternator/water pump belt snapped on my 1990 1.6td westy and I am having trouble getting the new one I bought fitted. I have taken the exhaust off to get access to the power steering pulley then removed this belt in order to fit the inside alternator belt. All going well but the new belt seems too small.

The belt is a contitech AVX 10X875 and seems a couple of cm too small, not even close to pull over the alternator when it is fully loosened.

Am I being a bit stupid here or do I need a bigger belt? Any hints or tips welcome.

Cheers

OK I see brickworks do a 10X910 belt, that will give me an extra 35mm. Will post later in week for an update.
