Just give the tube of the terminal a couple of squeezes with the cutting part of a pair of pliers to grip the cable then fill with solder. You don't always find the correct hole for the bolt that matches the cable size. I buy them by the 100 but use bare ones without the plastic - use shrink tube (preferably adhesive lined) to cover the cable to terminal area as this acts as a support to the joint to lessen the chance of the cable work hardening on flexing. I ditch the plastic bits if they are on the size terminal that I need.

Hi Guys,

I managed to get the mains charger wired back in again with the 35amp fuse in maxi fuse holder. What is the easiest method to check now that the battery is charging when the hookup is connected to the mains?

The battery level indicated led on the ZIG unit just shows as red if it is low or green if it is OK. As the battery is fully charged I'd have to run it low and then see if it regains its full charge on the hookup. I've got a multi-meter but only use it to check if my pencil batteries are dead :-) Could I use that?

Cheers,
Tim.

Yes you should be able to use your multimeter if it has a range suitable for 12V. You should se the voltage between the battery terminals go from between 12 and 13 volts (depending on condition of battery) to about 14 volts when the charger is switched on.
