distributor as fitted now silverbullet. I think it's got a tci as the current dizzy is electronic no points. ?

That is MV dizzy with vacuum connection on both sides of capsule.
TCI will be on lhs of engine bay, forward of coil. If it works and mpg is acceptable then leave for now. A
Advance curve probably not far off because both are around 9:1 compression. DF has very mild cam timing though, might be worth searching for a proper DF one but they were the earliest wbx.

I have a dizzy that looks like that but the code indicates its not from a t25 (can't remember I will dig it out) have a clean and read the code off it is the best way to be sure.

Didn't the DFs usually have a twin vac setup ?
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here

You could be right there John, never paid much attention to the really early ones!

Final update .readjusted tappets as per solid 6 thou engine stone cold , fitted new distributor cap and rotor arm,engine running much better than before and doesn't sound like a man running behind shaking a tin of ball bearings !
i have located a good distributor off an early df,watch this space .

big thank you to all who have taken the time to pass on your expert knowledge and advice . This old dog has learned some new tricks :ok
