Newbie SOS - Westy 240v not working

Post by wooders »

Hi there,

I'm new to the forum having just bought a 1980, 2l air-cooled Joker which just got back from her first outing.

I'm having some issues with the mains hookup that I was hoping someone could shed some light on. Basically, the 240v isn't working. I've tried various power sources without success so it's definitely a problem with the van. I imagine it might be something as simple as a blown fuse and according to my Westy manual there are a couple of fuses for the hookup behind the lateral seat in the back but can't for the life of me find them. Does anyone know where they are located or have any other thoughts as to what the issue might be?

Thanks and nice to meet you all.

Nick

I'm not sure about early Westys but on the later ones there is an MCB next to the little cupboard in front of the rear seat. Check to make sure it hasn't tripped. If it is still not working check for power either side of it with a voltmeter. I've had to replace an MCB in the past.

Thanks Tom.

Just so I'm clear, is the MCB behind the trimming panel, to the left of the rear seat, behind the fridge / hob? I'll take a wee look tonight.

Ah ok. Mine's definitely not like that. Thanks for the clarification Dave.
