nasty engine noise

Hi Experts
started the van after a week standing and was greeted with a nasty screeching/rattling noise

anybody got any ideas - it seems to be coming from under the carbs or if you are outside the van from the front of the engine

its a 2L Aircooled engine

any help much appreciated
