auto governor advice please re atf

Post by vanagonej25 »

Ok got a scooby ej 25 on a auto box. Noticed a good size wet patch around the governor seal so going to attempt to replace this seal. At same time may do the governor weight trim modifications. Can any body tell me if when I remove the governor which as further seals inside if the atf and gear oil will mix whist this isn't in place? Any help appreciated and any info on where to get this o ring? Seal. Tried usual jk and heritage to no avail thanks

O ring seals are sized according to either the shaft or bore size and sectional diameter. ANy seal supplier should be able to get you one unless...it's a VAG special, which is possible.
Where in the world are you? Might be worth an ask on thesamba.com, I would guess that there are far more autos in the US, so there will be more expertise to draw upon.

Bare in mind that the trim of the weights will increase rpm and pressure in the box so an alternative oil cooler will be needed or it may well burst it..
