Hi All
Hoping to find someone to help me shed some light with replacing the gear selector shaft oil seal on a 5 speed box on a LHD as I have managed to destroy two now in attempting it! I have taken it to two gear box specialists in Hampshire, who haven't been willing to attempt it.

Re: Gearbox oil seal
it is pretty simple really, if you are fitting the genuine blue one then remove the external compression spring before fitting, use plenty of grease to aid slipping it over the shaft and a deep 19mm socket to push it onto the internal plastic bush and into the case
you can remove the selector shaft and do it with the shaft out but often the shaft will push the new seal out when refitting the shaft so I find it easier to fit with the shaft in place, it is one of the last things I fit when being replaced.
remember to put the spring back on when it is fitted

Re: Gearbox oil seal
l or rhd makes no difference, knob is in the middle and seal on the right side of the gearbox
Blue one is THE one
