No 1.9s don't give any overheating trouble. It does not matter weather you go 1.6 or 1.9 so long as engine you choose is fully rebuilt IMHO, it's just the IDI takes a lot of money to build properly, at least £1200 in partss alone. AW engineering can supply you a good quality rebuild for £1400 plus VAT. It's also pretty imperitive that injectors are replaced at time of rebuild to

I arrived home last night and found a voice message on my mobile from Mario (Maz) ranting on about one of my earlier posts and calling me a liar! I looked back at my post and I must confess I did indeed make a mistake. I wrote that I had 4 engines from Mario and that 3 blew up and 1 broke. This is not true! and for this I apologise and if I caused offence or bad feeling then I truly am sorry  . I have actually had 5 AZZ engines in the last 18 months and when I put up my post I got a little mixed up and confused. What I should have said was that I had 3 engines off Mario, 1 broke and 2 blew up. The first engine was fitted late January 2013 and broke within 3 weeks not 10/11 months as stated. It was the bottom crank pulley that broke smashing all the valves and bits etc. This was repaired/rebuilt under warranty. I got my van back in March but in June 2013 the engine blew. This is the precon chamber that Mario tells you about. He replaced the engine again under warranty as it happened so soon after fitting. In July this year (13 months after fitting) the engine blew again at 55 mph on the A38. The story then continues to where Mario kindly posted up my other posts.
I am actually quite concerned that Mario called this a cheap job as I thought I was paying the going rate for a proper job and now to read that I was sold an engine to get it off the floor is rather alarming. He recommended the engine as the right one for the job! At the time I was new to T25's and didn't know whether to go Subaru, diesel or stay Aircooled but Mario said AZZ was the way to go.
Like I said in my original post just make sure you get the proper paperwork. I never received receipts or invoices for my vehicle history or piece of mind. I asked many times but gave up in the end.
If in doubt give it a clout!

Hm. What occurs to me after reading this thread is that anyone who expects to just get in and drive a T3 and have nothing go wrong, ever, had better make sure they like the ambience in recovery vehicles.

In my opinion, the responsibility for fault-free running lies securely with the owner. This means being up to speed with known weaknesses, their monitoring and, when necessary or prudent, relevant parts-replacement strategies. I've always been a believer in learning how to do things myself, and then doing them. That way I have only myself to accuse if something goes wrong. If you're not the type to do things yourself, then be prepared to have to shell out to have someone do the work who does know.

And this philosophy would extend to regular preventative maintenance, not just to occasions of major surgery.

throwing off belts?

so do you have a 2 belt or one belt system? or are you running 3 belts on one of the systems?

cant be difficult to sort by a decent mechanic?

if the belt goes the alternator light come on so you STOP? not a problem , no overheating or nowt?
