He did Al's van before they went to Morocco.

having blown up the last one he fitted going somewhere else this time. Mario is a nice chap but what ever your deal is with him get it in writing!

Re: 5 times on a AA truck now
£500 on an engine ? including fitting? that's poss your problem
you need to be looking at £3000 or more if your paying someone to do it all

Re: 5 times on a AA truck now
So what's actually broken each time, and what did this garage actually do for the money? £500 doesn't necessarily go very far spread between VAT, labour and parts.Edition38 wrote:I don't want to do a pot luck pick out of thin air place

Re: 5 times on a AA truck now
Hi guys
The 500 pounds was for
Oil , filter , timeing belt , water pump , ( fitted) and starter rebuild
The problem is that it kepted throwing off fan belts and the last time it did this I cooked it big time . I got the garge to check it out before doing the timeing gear ect and they said it was ok but it wasn't 190 mile later it's sized 8-(
I will give all the above a ring and go from there looking into a 110 bhp with the gearbox done if needed had to get my golf country box reworked when I got a 110 diesel put in that however that garge is no longer there

As most know I post very little here, but this has been bought to my attention by my customerTrunkster wrote:I have had 4 engine's from Mario 1 broke and 3 blew uphaving blown up the last one he fitted going somewhere else this time. So to quote the real facts here
We supplied Andy over two years ago a used 1.9 AAZ which was removed from Keith's PD Atlantic, we replaced the head and supplied and fitted it for £1500 I think, maybe 10-11 months later the bottom crank pulley failed, common IDI fault, taking out crank, we rectified all faults free of charge including replacing bottom end with another good used engine, bear in mind this was done cheap and not really one of our normal jobs, all it did was get a engine off the floor for us,
As a rule now a rebuilt AAZ engine will cost you £1400 plus vat plus labour and cost of injectors, any thing other than this and you are taking a gamble, the AAZ does not stand the test of time well and once taken from its cozy golf environment and make to work twice as hard in a T3 the result is often not good, but hey sometimes you get lucky.
As a note I remember what happened the to Andy's engine,it was not crank pulley it dropped a precon chamber out the head pretty much destroying it entirely, obviously no amount of preempt can predict the dropping of a precon chamber as any tech on here will understand, we replaced his engine with a ivorseal recon that we pulled out of a customers T4 which they converted to TDi the ivorseal unit was less than a year old according to its original owner

Re: 5 times on a AA truck now
Just found this
AAZ temp gauge
by Trunkster » Wed Aug 13, 2014 7:59 am
Hi guys. I have an AZZ engine fitted in my van. It was originally air cooled. To cut a very long story short I blew 2 AAZ engines up and I am now having a third one fitted. As you probably know the AZZ engine runs hot. This time I am having an oil cooler from BW fitted. The temp gauge in the van when I blew the last 2 up went from half to max in a matter of seconds so was too late to save the engine. I know you can buy after market add on temp gauges. My question is are they any good, which is the best and do I have it on the water side off the cooling system or the oil? How do you fit them? My money is running out quickly and don't want to blow another engine!

Blew my AZZ 1.9td a few weeks ago. I then bought a used but so called working AZZ from a chap on here. I have just had a call from the garage fitting the engine that the replacement engine I bought is knackered as well!! The garage has a working golf but failed MOT due to welding that they Know has a good engine because they have looked after it for their customer for years. Customer is thinking of selling the car rather than have it welded. Will a 1:9 TD Engine with codes IZ and AHU fitt?

Re: 5 times on a AA truck now
So the 1.9 tdis are going to give me trouble due to over heating ? Maybe I should buy a head and get my old 1.6 td fully reworked and maybe get the gear box reworked with a higher 5th gear ? I am more then happy to throw a few quid at it to get it right
