Advice needed

Finally got time to pull my van out from the garage decided to take off some scabs from the near side lower panel found it's caked in bog, picked out the bog and I have cut a lot of the rusty panel away

For the moment I have stopped as I didn't want to go any further without advice.

I've read somewhere that I shouldn't cut too much away now thing is the replacement panel for the side will prob be fro AH Schofield

get the angle grinder out and start cutting away the rusty panel,its probably got issues in the metalwork you cant see so cut,fabricate and weld that first if needed, then fit panel.Its never that easy though but good luck...

You've got rust in the seams there as well which is to be expected. I would replace the whole panel with a tall arch panel and sort the seam rust at the same time by grit blasting. Depends if you're just looking for a quick fix or a longer lasting repair. And bottom of pillar obviously would need to be rebuilt as well before fitting the new panel.
I used a JK panel for mine and it worked out ok in the end... Every panel will need fettling with to get it to fit right anyway.

as for the C post bottom and arm mount/jp , well you need to have a good dig into that then post up the result and we can advise further,

Thanks for the advice guys I have been busy with the grinder and here are the results

I have left lots of meat on the cuts as I am unsure to how much is needed to fit the new panel.
I am a little clearer on the process of fitting new from micky's posts

Micky you mention I need to have a "dig" how do you mean? Cut it open or stab around ?.... It seems to be quite solid

Had a good old poke it's solid with a little surface rust pic looks worse than it is best pic I have is this one.

C post has a crease in it from a light "scuffle" from a previous accident this prob explains the amount of bog that was used to cover the panel! up to a cm and more in places
