non vw - do i need EGR valve
Tried to get the egr off my car but it was solid and I couldn't shift it. Looking on tinterweb I can see that the easy option is to blank the egr valve off;so the question is would doing so cause any damage/poor(er) running to my 1.9 dci? any advised appreciated.

Its blanked off on my 1.9tdi (fitted in my syncro) depending on the engine management system, it may throw a fault code.
On my engine (from a 1999 passat) its fine, you may lose a mpg or two but other than that the engine runs on cleaner air so all good.

Time is a drug. Too much of it kills you

Or as in my case on a Rover 45 and on a citroen 1.9 TD you may actually get a smidge more power and better fuel economy if the valve has been playing up. The rover improved 3 mpg and the citroen improved 5 mpg. Also less smoke and oil lasts longer!!!

I heard that Renault diesel engines can overheat the turbo if you blank egr off, just double check.
