hi all im back again for more advice please I need to service my auto box but im a bit confused about the sump gaskets , brickwerks say I need one of these http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php/t ... -auto.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and jk say it's this one I need http://www.justkampers.com/010-321-371- ... -1992.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I plan to change the filter and the fluid
I checked the part no.s rob and they don't match that's what threw me , I thought maybe the jk one was for the final drive ,the same as this brickwerks one http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php/t ... et-t3.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
as they're roughly the same price , is it the sump I need to take off to replace the filter ?
The second brickwerks one you put up has holes for the pan bolts.The first two dont. And yes mate you need to remove the sump pan to renew the filter.One tip i can give you is.Before you remove the sump pan,Undo the nut at the bottom of the filler tube this will drain most of the ATF fluid.

"The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits"
You need the first one mentioned its a rubber seal rather than a paper gasket, the pan has one bolt in each corner. The paper one shown with holes in is the final drive not the auto. Drain the oil as mentioned then pop off the pan , have a drain pan under as there is always some left in there. remove the rubber seal and clean up the lip it fits over as it can be gunky. Next undo the screws holding the stainless strainer cover (the strainers are cheaper on ebay same as a golf mk1 I paid about £5.00) Be careful when cleaning the stainless cover as its damn sharp and I cut my finger on it!!! Place the new strainer on the plate and pop the centre screw through , offer it up and do it up. (make sure you get the strainer the right way up!!) I used a smear of sealer on the rubber seal both sides and tightened the bolts a bit at a time. Now with a nice clean pan and some new ATF how lovely and red your dipstick will look rather than brownyred. Brickwerks were the cheapest for the rubber pan seal but gsf and others do it and its the same as a golf mk1.
