'91Westy rear seat belt

Post by hjulmand »

Hi All,

This is my first post here. I am in the process of buying a '89 Westy Joker with fixed lap belts in the rear. I want to upgrade these to 3 point belts. the right one is no problem as I'll probably go with the Brickwerks kit as it's been described in a lot of threads

For the left one, I saw a '91 Westy (supposedly original) where the seat belt was attached to a metal frame inside the cupboard as seen in the picture, hopefully.

Have anybody seen this before? It seems a better solution than attaching the left belt to the passenger side rear pillar.

cheers,

Lars

Hi Lars,
You don't need to make a hole in your cupboard. I had seat belt services fix our rear belts and they both were mounted on the left hand side (as viewed towards the rear from the kitchen) One belt had two clips to form another anchor point.
I am at work otherwise I could upload a photo. Can you wait until the weekend?

Much simpler to fit both belts on the sliding door side than to try and get a suitable seatbelt anchor through the wardrobe. Doing the installation that way looks neat enough, and it saves the hassle of trying to bring a viable anchor point from the body shell through the wardrobe.

Thank you.

I agree that the sliding door option is far easier. I'll probably go with that.

Photos as promised. Sorry for the delay.

There are (apparently) holes already pre drilled on this side for seat belts

Hopefully the following two photos are self explanatory
