I'm going to have an oil cooler fitted to my AFN Tdi. My current thinking is oil cooler rad at the bottom and charge cooler radiator at the top. Both would be in front of the main radiator.
Has anyone else done this and have they had any issues with engine coolant temp?

Re: Charge cooler and oil cooler radiator placement
is there a guide somewhere to how to install the oil cooler, primarily filling it up for the first use.
so normally a 2.1 MV/SS WBX takes 4.5l of oil
with oil cooler, ive read thats 6l in total.
so after connecting everything up, before the first start, would you put 6l in the engine
then start up the engine, get it warm so that the thermostat opens and then the oil gets circulated around the oil cooler system?
or only put the 4.5l in at first, then get it up to speed and then top up the rest then and there?
or with only 4.5l in the engine, when the thermostat opens, and alot of the oil goes to the oil cooler, doesnt this starve the engine of alot of oil, or that is fine for a few mins, while you top up?
cheers, Rich

Re: Charge cooler and oil cooler radiator placement
Since initialling the oil cooler, on the 2nd drive I then had the temperature gauge installed and when hot it was a good 90 degrees. Im assuming that this is the one that came in the set, with a 90 deg thermostat - http://busschmiede.de/shop/Thermoblock- ... hraubung_1
But I can't really see much evidence that the thermostat opened and the oil went down to the cooler, the cooler was not warm also the pipes weren't either.
I was just worried that the first time the thermostat opened, I would get the oil warning light, as the engine with only around 4.5 litres of oil in would suddenly lose some of that to the oil cooler. As I was told that the cooler itself takes 2 litres.
but are my expectations correct?
