Battery box??

Post by Watchman »

Hi Folks

My T25 Transporter failed on one thing (yee Haa, all my welding passed the inspection) rust hole with in 30 cm of main chassis member.

The guy at the MOT station showed me the area in question.

It appears from the underside (N/S rear, almost at the back of van) that I have what a can descibe as a square box, the bottom of which is the rust hole that needs reapir.

Strangley I cant seem to find a way into it from inside the van??

I would guess it looks like a battery box, were they part of the standard body and then not used if a particular model was made??

Can I cut the rear floor body to gain access??

Your help as always would be greatly received

does it look like this bit?

Common rust spot, you should be able to see into it from inside the engine bay. if it is the offside (on mine anyway) there is a cold air intake box in the way that needs to come out first. Not sure if this is the same on all vans. You can also take out the rear light cluster to see into this bit.

Of course I could be way off the mark!

I meant to add, if it is that part then it might be worth asking metalmick8y nicely if he will make you up a replacement. The part I had from him was much better quality than the pattern parts. :ok

If you remove the rear light cluster you can see in there too.
