2 man tent recommendations please......

Post by toolsntat »

Just had some time over Bristol and Welsh borders with the lad camping in a tent now he is too old for the van  ......
This one as it happens.
http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/hi-gear-neutron-2-p143491" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Well it is falling to bits along some of the inner seams and I will be taking it back.
Could be just a rogue one or they all go like it.
So should I take my money and run for another Supplier, Brand or Model?

The lad enjoyed himself first time camping (in a tent) anyway :ok

We have a 2/3 man and a 4/5 man that we bought at go outdoors. They are both Outwell tents and very sturdy but the bigger one is quite heavy. We looked at hi-gear but its outwells own budget brand as far as I know.

My first recommendation for a 2 man tent is to buy a 4 man tent! :rofl

The manufacturers are either leprechauns or extremely optimistic.

I have had 2 Litchfield Challengers, a 4 man and a 5 man. They are pretty well made, sturdy in a gale and give lots of room in the porch for rainy days.

OK they are a bit heavy, having steel poles, but you will never break them!

Maybe a bit old fashioned, being a ridge tent, not a space dome. But I know which I prefer in a storm.

Thanks for the input 8)
If they had bothered to fold the seams on the Hi-gear before stitching it would be passable for the price
Got the 2 birth for the single occupant

My very first tent was the Lichfield Challenger 4 and was going to take it but after getting it from the loft, as you say, it was a bit heavy
Probably a good job as I bet it needs proofing

Anything by Vango. Great stuff, not cheap but you will still be using it when you have forgotten what you paid for it (my measure of good value) Bri

Hi,
I had a Vango (Banshee?) 200, which is cheap-ish from Go Outdoors (with a membership card even cheaper and they price match).
Approx £50 second hand on ebay during winter, they might go up in summer.
It's fairly light weight but good solid construction.
Fits two but with not much room to spare.
I also had a North Face Tadpole but they don't make them anymore. Even second hand on eBay they still fetch a lot.
Cheers and happy camping!
