Re: advice please speedo cable stuck in steering knuckle
Well its out !!! but its now a mess, the pvc/plastic sheath hides a wound metal tube within, this had been put in unraveled I think and had caught inside the knuckle. I used your suggestions, lots of silicon spray and by using a tip of a screwdriver I just edged it out mm by mm. Made a mess of the outer sheath and it's gonna be a new cable outer and inner. Once the cable was out the rubber bung just popped out with very little pressure but it had been put in beyond its lip. I have taken some photos of the rubber stopper and cable. At one stage i had wound the cable around a hammer shaft to give more purchase and it still wouldn't budge. Onwards and upwards. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll try and download the photos.

Hooray photbucket works as well, sorry for the poor photos, anyway thats the end of the cable, not sure what state it was in prior to me trying to get it out but its going to be a new one, any ideas if they easily obtainable ? the second photo is the rubber stopper/sleeve from the back of the steering knuckle beside a 13 mm socket just to give an idea of proportion, the rubber stopper/sleeve was fully inside the knuckle hence I was unable to just pull it out by its lip. I have refitted it and it pops in and out with any problems. Haynes says " renew the rubber sleeve in the steering knuckle before refitting the cable ensuring that sleeve is fitted flush with the edge of the whole" it should then add dont push it right into the knuckle because the the next owner will never get the f~#in thing out . PS ignore the old red carpet it what I use to kneel on, I'm not doing this in the living room honest !
