Clutch slave cylinder

Post by Jakemate »

Well changed my gearbox today and broke a part in the process!

The slave cylinder wouldn't come off so I tried undoing the clear plastic pipe that feeds the slave cylinder, it broke off. I also noticed the bleed nipple on the slave has broken off also.

Has anyone repaired the bleed nipple by drilling and re tapping the hole and where can I get a replacement plastic hose, it connects from a copper pipe on the chassis to the slave cylinder and is a clear plastic pipe.

Many thanks, Wayne.

Brickwerks, of course. If the union and the nipple into the slave are both that corroded, is it worth replacing it?

Nope I always repair what I can, the actual cylinder is good but I can't see why I'd replace a good cylinder for the sake of a bleed nipple.
I'll have a go tomorrow and take pics if it goes to plan to help anyone else that has the same problem.
Found a replacement pipe from brickwerks, thank you for the advice. I've not had the van long so don't know which supplier sells what or who's a god supplier.

There are several, and not in any particular order:

VW Commercial - sometimes cheaper than everyone else and they only sell original parts obviously.
Brickwerks - sell tried & tested quality parts
VW Heritage
VW Emporium (great for window seals)
GSF (avoid their 'budget or cheaper version of parts)
Ebay (sometimes)
Just Kampers (quality varies enormously)
Euro Car Parts (often have great offers on)
Local garage or motor factors

I buy from all over the place (its my money after all). Depends what it is, how quickly I need it etc.

Thats not an exhaustive list by any means. There are many, many second-hand part places too - oh and the 'for sale' section on here. Some of us make our own parts too.

Also, bear in mind that makes/brands change so just because someone says one outlets version of a part is carp, doesn't mean it is the day you buy yours.
