just wandering how you get the top bolt off the starter motor on 2.0l Aircooled. Is it the weird shaped one on a diagonal to the bottom bolt? and what tool do I need to remove it?
looked in wiki but cant find much info on the removal of this bolt.
many thanks

Cordialement,
managed to find method on an old thread. nut hidden in the engine bay, crafty devil easy to do once air box removed but couldn't get the bush in the bell housing out so going to get expanding bolt and do it in the week. Shouldn't take too long now ive figured it out.
first time ive had to remove the starter motor so good learning curve

When you re-fit the starter make sure the trigger wire on the solenoid is a tight (& clean) fit. If the spade connector is a bit loose it'll fall off after a few days and the starter won't spin up.
2ltr Aircooled CU with twin Solex's & originally a 009 dizzie, but now back to standard.
