My control unit is the one included in the manual, the DS220D MKII

It would seem that the electric hookup does indeed power the fridge and the power socket, but nothing else, so it doesn't charge the leisure battery.

The leisure battery is charged from driving, well it is if it's not broken like mine currently is Still we think it's a relatively easy fix.

Also, anyone using a solar panel to trickle charge their leisure battery?

My Dad tells me he used a 40w panel for his caravan and does a pretty good job.

I fitted a 100 watt panel with a dual battery controller.
I would think at 40watt you wouldn't need a controller, because the amps produced is so very low.
My panel has peaked at 7.6 amps on a sunny day.
great for camping without hooky as the panel recharges the battery so quickly.
Semi flexible 100 watt panels can be adhered to your van roof.

Something fitted to the roof would be great. I have to get up there to repair the leaky skylight anyway
