paint codes

Post by TR »

I have recently obtained an '83 watercooled Caravelle and need to do a small amount of panel touch up. The vehicle i light blue over dark blue.
Question; where can I find the paint codes?

Incidentally I have the same model and colours though don't ask me what they are (thread above will show you) - I'm going to repaint mine a different shade

thanks CovKid,
I'm not crazy about the colour combination either - what shade have you in mind?

A major shift would be too much of a headache but bottom right here: http://www.vwt3busters.com/gallery1.htm appealed somehow. Maybe chrome mini-trim along top gutter edge instead of the existing black one?

Doing mine with a high density roller (well covered elsewhere on the forum) and rustoleum for a hard glossy finish. Suppliers say they can mix any colour. Its just taking me a while to hunt out minor areas of rust along seams and treating them properly before they become major probs. Can't see the point in painting without doing all this properly.

Wheel arches (rear) also fairly scabby so chickenkoop is welding new ones in once he comes back from his holiday in Cornwall/Devon. I should be close to painting then. Bought this caravelle from Ebay for £475 last year and really chuffed with it. By the way, you can squeeze a nice LPG tank under that rear seat!
