Westfalia Electrolux fridge again!

Post by saviogimmi »

Right sick of it not working on gas, works fine on 240 and 12v, taken it out turned upside down for a day put it back, cleaned everything taken burner assembly apart and put back together cleans and checked the flue. Still will not get cold! I even got a spirit level on it to make sure it was level! The flame is blue and the flue gets very hot. The only thing I can think of is that the flame is not big enough? Maybe the regulator is not giving the full 50 mb? When I use the temp knob the flame reduces when it's at the lowest temp them gets bigger at full? Any ideas it's doing my head in !

There is no point in turning it upside down if it is working on electrickery! Ignore whoever told you that would help - it may help to remix the refrigerant if it doesn't cool properly on all 3 sources not in this scenario though.
Have you got the baffle at the correct height in the flue? Is there one present at all?

Different models most probably to yours but you can see the size and placement.

Are you sure that it is a 50 Mbar fridge and not a replacement UK one?

Hi, yep deff 50mb fridge its the original fridge, I cannot see any kind of baffle at all, do all these fridges have them? I take it looking at the diagram that the baffle sits in the solid part of the flue just above the burner?

I'm fairly sure they should all have them, presumably you would have noticed if it fell out when you turned the fridge upside down...
Should be easy enough to make one and suspend it in the flue, although I would have thought the fridge would still work to some extent without it.

I do not think it fell out, just never there. I will try and make one. Am I right it is just a rectangle twisted? What would be the best thing to make it from?

Yes its just a rectangle with a twist. I guess a thin piece of aluminium would be easiest, depends what you've got. A section of copper pipe cut lengthways, opened out and flattened should work as well.

Steel sheet not very thick - there is a hole at the top in which a wire is hooked - the other is hooked over the flue at the top so that it is at the correct height. (slightly thicker than a tin can )
rm122 instructions state that it must be present - most say that it should be present.
