loud click from rear left brake

Post by Shaundon »

I'm getting a loud click from the rear left drum brake when i press the brake down , clicks each time i press the brake but doesn't if the handbrake is applied.
Even happens when not moving.

Anyone had this / know what could cause it?

Something lose? ie the brake adjuster or backing plate could (probably will) be corroded and components are starting to shift, you need to take the drum off and take a look.

Just had it off (the drum that is ) and it all looks ok and seems to work perfectly, added some grease to the spring contact points etc and reassembled but its still making the noise when the brake is depressed!.

after a run out with the copper grease on the spring contacts it seems to have cleared the noise :)
