Gear linkage problem

Post by gypo »

I changed the front gear linkage bush (at the gear stick) about 3 yrs ago as it was really sloppy, this helped a lot then I finally got round to changing the rest of the linkage bushes that were in pretty poor state.
This has made a massive difference, its like a new van (except for the rust etc :D ) The only problem I have now is when selecting 1st and 2nd I have to be careful or the stick will go over too far and I have to pull it back to me a bit before I can select them.

When I did the rear bushes I was careful to mark the joint where it splits and made an effort to make sure it went back in the same place.
Could it be that the front is not in the right place as I see the bolt holes on the top look as if they might be adjustable? So maybe when I did the front a couple of years back I didn't put that back in the correct place and this wasn't noticed as the stick was still quit sloppy?
Anyone help please?
Cheers
