Solving the body roll on a westy hightop

Hi all, I have a Westy California Hightop. It's currently undergoing body resto, but I'm also keen to try and solve the body roll issues. Currently it will sway pretty severely in gusts and is almost undriveable if the wind is 30 mph plus on the motorway.

I've read advice in respect of lowering and possibly the 'bushes' but not really sure which measures to take. Advice would be much appreciated!

Wrong section Pete but lowering by 40-50mm with quality lowering springs(not red and from ebay!)and quality shockers will improve the handling greatly.

Check out the Brickwerks website for tried and tested quality lowering springs and shockers.
Do not under any circumstances buy such items from a company that's based in Hampshire who sell cheap plastic plates and cups ...

Steering rack bushes may improve things if not already changed, also upper wishbone bushes. Just renewed mine and it's one of the biggest improvements yet. Looks like you've already got a lower front spoiler, so it could be worse.

Before you do that, get under there and check the droplinks. If they're damaged/broken, it'll roll like a rowing boat in a rough ocean. You'll notice it most if you go into a sharp corner fast. It'll make it very unstable in a straight line too if its windy or the surface very uneven.

Hi, just thought I'd follow up on this thread, as I've now had some work done and the ride is now totally sorted; thanks for the advice. I lowered the van by 30mm and fitted new dampers (Brickwerks kit!), added levelling shims (to counter the westy lean due to the camping kit) and new poly bushes. I cannot over state how much better it is; pleasure to drive and money extremely well spent. In my eyes, this is a vital upgrade! Cheers for the advice, it has paid off.
