1Y 1.9D install - what else do I need?
Hi, me again, I'm picking up my 1Y this weekend and I'm looking to order any other ancillary parts in readiness for installation next week. I'm not talking about the alternator etc I was thinking more along the lines of gaskets etc What other parts do I need?
1) sump gasket ( to swap the sumps)
2) some sort of exhaust gasket?
3) timing belt kit (I'm guessing its wise to do this while it's out?)
4) new water pump?
5) fresh oil and filter
6) spigot bearing
7) new clutch? (I'm guessing this needs to be one to suit the donor car)
8 ) input shaft oil seal for the gearbox
9) new Aux belt?
10) new coolant
Is there anything else? I'm upgrading from a 1.6D
Thanks chaps - James

That about covers what I used, but remember you will need a clutch to suit the gearbox not the donor we car!
You will also need new bolts fro the crank and clutch are that are not always supplied in the kit

Hi, that's good to know, is it easy enough to remove the old spigot bearing? Do I need any special tools? Excuse all the questions but I'm waiting on a workshop manual

I kept the 1.6 clutch when mine was upgraded from 1.6 CS to 1Y, absolutely fine. I think the water pump from my 1.6 was also used?
The only other thing I can think of is that you may need to come up with a solution for the 1.9 fuel pump bracket, where the cable attaches - it sticks up too far in it's original state so you can't close the engine cover. I don't have the engine anymore, but here's a pic showing what was done with mine:-

There was also a bit of insulation removed from the engine cover. You may have a different fuel pump on yours though...

That's really helpful, thanks
Mines going in a Doka so I have more clearance up top.
What about these brickwerks throttle levers, anybody use these, or are they more of a nicety?

They are good, lots use them however in a doka not sure you will have an issue as there is more hight under the engine hatch (I believe)
You get the bearing out with Grease and a dowel using hydraulic pressure. But you new engine won't have one to remove so just drift the new one in with a socket of the correct size
I to used the 1.6 clutch (although a new one and it's fine)

Blimey how did I miss that thread
The perils of looking at the forums on the phone while moving house I guess, I'll have a read of that now and no doubt find the answers to everything I wanted to know and a load more as well. As ever thank you for all the help and advice, much appreciated
