T25 exhaust with heat exchanger?
Hi All. I'm completely new to this site since we have only started to get around to doing some work on the camper. The van is 1.9 water cooled fuel injection and the complete exhaust is knackered. It appears to have a fifth pipe which I think is the heat exchanger. Now the question is can I get a stainless steel exhaust to replace the duff one? do I need the heat exchanger? All advice greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome and please post pics of your van!
Right, can't answer your question about the pipe (someone knowledgeable will be along soon to do that!) but I do know you can get SS exhaust as my 1.9 water cooled has one. I didn't buy it but the receipt is in the pack up I got with the van and it appears it was custom made. It's certainly a quality bit of kit and I'd hope will last pretty much forever.
Most of the bits you need are also available at Brikwerks, bot sure if they do a complete SS setup but I can certainly vouch for the quality of their merchandise.

Re: T25 exhaust with heat exchanger?
Thanks Lee. I think for the few quid extra stainless steel is the way to go. The van is away at the mrs workplace waiting for a welder to take a look at the floor, arches etc...(only waiting four weeks!!!!) Any how I think I'll bring her home and get someone else to look at her. It's in need of some major TLC although the engine is the original with 408K on the clock and starts on the button. I'll post some pics when I get her home. Thanks for the info, I was looking at an exhaust from VW Speedshop but the heat exchanger is the thing I'm not sure of. Many thanks again Lee

The heat exchanger is only a pre-heat and no you don't need it really so an ordinary pipe will be fine.
