Breather hoses on petrol tank, clips missing?

Mine are tempermental, sometimes come off when I fill it. I think its down to how powerful the pump I am using to fill it is.

Looking at the exploded diagram, its appears clips are needed around the hoses but on my van, not a single clip is holding any of the pipes.

Passenger side is the main problem, the drivers side seems very securely in place. Was going to replace the passenger side hoses with the 5.5mm hose from Brickwerks but wanted to know if I needed to order 10 hose clips too?

I've recently done all the breathers on my tank using Brickwerks 5.5mm, and in my opinion they don't need clips. Once pushed on they're very difficult to pull off. I had to drop the tank again this weekend, and the breather pipes took a lot of pulling to get them off.

Thanks, pretty easy to pull off passenger side, think the hoses are a bit old and perished. Annoyingly the sender seal was replaced recently and all the hoses are looking quite new with new clips, apart from the passenger side. Perhaps he forgot. Gonna try a different mechanic I think.

Will order the hose and replace it and see how I get on.

Replaced them, very old and perished, all splayed out, surprised I'd not lost more fuel!

I would concur with the 'doable with the wheel off,just' suggestion. It is.

But like all things T25, nothing is ever simple is it. Twisted off the end of a 1/2" extender bar trying to get the wheel off. I actually thought I'd have to give up, collapsed into a heap with a wimpy 'yes' as the last one came free.

Best investment that I made was a 3/4 inch bar for the rear axle nut - it gets used for undoing the wheel nuts on both my Merc and the VW. Even then I am surprised at the force I have to put behind it to crack some of them.

Probably not the greatest loss to mankind, then - it was probably made of cheese, unless you were using something daft like a hugely long scaffold bar.

I used the 2ft torque wrench I have to break it. Gave up with that.

I was using the x tyre lever thingy with a long extender bar pushed into one of the socket holes and my foot on the other end, nearly 4ft of leverage, thought I was twisting the tyre lever when they came free.

180Nm is pretty modest pressure, why do garages go so mental I don't know.
