Wheels sit angled
My problem is my t25 rear wheel studs are long with no thread near hub end.there is a plate behind steel wheel on top of hub then round spacers then nuts.my wheels are sitting funny.stupid question but does standard steel wheel go direct onto hub as I think someone has adapter plates on them but are also fitted in the wrong place.the round spacers i describe are the same bits at the end of a proper rear nut but seperate.hope this all makes sense.

I got it. Sounds like a horrible bodge with either unsuitable wheels, or stripped or incorrect studs and the spacer/bodge used to refit original wheels as owner kept the ones that were on it (likely). We do need photos though, particularly looking along the side from the back and ideally with wheel off too so we can see how on earth they've been fitted. Sounds like spacer plate and washers to me. Nasty.

^^^^ as covkid says^^^^, it sounds like the last owner has put longer studs in for a set of alloys. To re-fit original steel wheels the spacers have to stay on as the threads would be massive if the steel wheel went back against the brake drum. If you want to go back to proper fitment you will have to get some original studs and swap them over.

If what you guys above are saying is correct, then this is what I had to do in a blind panic one evening when I was late setting off for the airport, only to find I had a flat. 5 minutes to put the spare on - or so I thought. Alloys are a lot wider than the steels.

Thanks for the replys .i took right rear wheel of today the studs are longer indeed welded on inside of hubs .
Hub back on then there's a plate which sits on outside ,then steel wheel.think this adapter plate is indeed to do with alloys.i took it out put wheel and tyre on against hub as should
Be.there are spacers go on then wheel nut but a standard size socket just bit small so tightens with deep socket I tryed the plate on outside spacer then plate then nuts but strange looking.my nuts are plain with no over collar under them as standard the spacers are ovaled against hub.i can use deep socket without plate but don't know if my chrome vw caps will fit over long studs(will have to try).wheels still small angle but only slight.bearings etc new as all brake parts so only thing I can think is guy who fitted studs are angled slightly even though all sits tight and flush.strange(never got photos yet).

Pictures needed... wheels cant sit at an angle if the nuts are done up.. if the van is lowered then the camber angle will effect how the wheels sit in relation to the road.. (at an angle, top in)
Sounds like prev owner had alloys on that often require different nuts.. std wheels require radius nuts.. if you nuts are not seating properly, then this is a dangerous situation..
if the studs don't have thread all the way down and the nut stops before tightening the wheel to the hub, this is dangerous.. the spacer is there because of that we would assume..
and the coment about studs "welded" to hub.. That's frightening.. they should be pressed in...
Easiest thing to do, is to get a pair of used hubs with std studs in already... the large hub nut needs to be undone to do this.. and it needs to be done up properly after....
