Someone will correct me if I'm wrong I hope, but I believe this can happen if the two electrical connections on the carb are swapped over. One is the idle cut-off solenoid, which should have power all the time it's running, and one is the throttle body heater, which should have power only until the engine has warmed up. If they're swapped over by mistake (and it's easy to do) then the idle cut-off will lose power once the engine warms up.

Will it rev?
Or does it just stall and refuse to run (even revved)

By all means check that it's not the idle cut off connected wrong but I don't think it is.
I think this is a mixture issue.
I'd be cleaning the carb out and renewing the filter first

Does this always happen now?
And did it happen before the garage work?

These points refer to the 1.9 DG engine with the Pierburg carburettor.

Have had similar but only rare occasions.
On mine I take the electrical lead off the idle cutoff, item 8 in CJH's sketch, spray with wd40-ish stuff and that often works.
The other fix has been giving it a good rev and throttle pumping while engine is running, this is usually for cutting out on less than a really fast idle, ie when having to stop in traffic.

So these are probably different problems, but these are complicated old troopers!!

Good luck
