oil pressure gauge

Post by west E »

i've got a problem with an oil pressure guage.

it's on an Aircooled 2ltr with an oil presssure guage which when i turn the ignition key goes too max and beyond! the guage did work but for some reason doesn't seem too now. The guage was fitted on the van when i got so i don't have any wiring diagrams or any clue of where the wiring might be on the engine. I think it is probably shorting out somewhere but have know idea where the sender unit would be located, any help?

cheers
if you can't fix it have a drink.

west E,
Haven't got a 2litre Aircooled, but think the sender will normally be mounted on or near the port for the oil pressure switch that operates the red low oil pressure light on the dash. This I believe is on the left side of the engine just forward of the distributor. Have a look in that area . Someone may be along with more info soon. :?

Sender probably looks something like THIS (Scroll down)
