Alternative Steering Wheel

Post by JamesKT25 »

Wasnt really sure where to post this, but didnt want to just stick it in general chat.

Does anyone know if the steering wheel of an old shape beetle or a bay window fit the slipnes on a t25?

I want an old school looking wheel for my van.

Whats the spline size on an 86 panel van?

Not sure about the size for a beetle/bay window wheel, but I have a MK1 Golf GTi one on my van - fits straight on but just requires some small computer extension screws so that the indicator cancel works. Can just make the wheel out in this pic:

Late Beetle certainly has the same splines (Momo bosses list them for the 1303 and Mk1 Golf which are both small spline).

I'm not sure with anything earlier than 1970 though.

Must admit, something like this would look pretty damn smart:

You could always try & find a spline adapter once you know the sizes. Only problem maybe the indicator cancel but you may be able to fabricate something to fit. Let us know how you get on.
