1.6td engine code JR missing turbo

Hi, discovered through engine code that my engine is a 1.6td, however i think at some point the turbo has been removed anyone come across this before?

My van started life as a JX with turbo - before I got it this was replaced with a CS which died so I replaced the block with a JX block. As I didn't have the turbo to bring it back to original I just ran it like that. Same sort of thing has happened to yours I suspect.

Thanks for the reply, was thinking of getting a turbo, until i saw the price! Not sure if its worth doing to be honest. someone please correct me if im wrong. considering the price for a replacement turbo

Theres a fair difference in performance between the 1.6 TD and the none turbo 1.6, i was in the same boat, i bought a donor van for its engine and had it rebuilt, it's now a 1.6TD, much happier with the performance, still no race car but theres a bit more oomph there now.

I haven't heard of the JR engine code, is it definatley a turbo engine block? If you go the turbo route the block will need oil jets/squirters to keep the hotter running turbo'd engine running cooler.

Had to google the engine code, all the info shows that its a golf/jetta TD. garrett T3 turbo. will have to do some more research on parts needed and cost to get it back to original. any advice would be great
