oil level is an inch above standard top mark on dip stick
he hasnt done any more than 30 miles since oil fill

Re: aaz oil change problem
Have you checked to see if the sump plug hole is blocked?
If your using a standard jx dipstick the min mark is your new max mark (aaz block is taller)

Re: aaz oil change problem
I wouldn't drive it or even run it with possibly double the amount of oil in!
Screwdriver in the hole with a big drainage can underneath ready - you may be looking at 7-8 litres of oil on the deck.
Blocked with sludge is the first thought, second is that the drain has been welded up/blocked for some reason.

engine was done about 1500 miles ago aparently going by receipts from garage mind going by the looks of things glow plugs look like there original replaced 1500 mile ago they had cut the azz cold start cable went through bulkhead not attached luckly the original t3 cold start cable is there so sorted that out for him starts better now .
if say i poke with screwdriver and its welded up i guess its undo the two 13mm bolts that hold the filler tube on thats going to be messy i gguess cant thing what else to do ill keep you all posted with my findings

Re: aaz oil change problem
Or just buy one of those oil siphon pumps, stick it down the oil filler and remove all the oil. Certainly a lot cleaner than trying to remove the filler.

Re: aaz oil change problem
And just because a grange did it, doesn't mean they did anything to the sump other than swap it over to the new engine. As for the cold start, I've had a jx and a aaz and never had to use the cold start. Could be a idea to check the pump timing and other stuff is spot on.

its worrying if i was him id either get a new sump or remove it and drill it
but is that normal for a jx sump not to have a hole to drain out of

Re: aaz oil change problem
Some have two sump plugs, mine has.. Normally referred to as a syncro sump, but i think some 2wd's got them too. one of my plugs is behind the silencer, the other at the opposite end of the sump, offside.

Re: aaz oil change problem
the one on mine is just the standard one (gearbox end)
http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php/s ... -d-td.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
front one looks a bit different and is flush with the sump with a small allen key. I have a brand new jx sump here and it has the allen key type at both ends, like this

maybe your mates one is the weird valve type one?
