Head Gasket Replacement :(

Hi,

Our 1.6d needs a head gasket replacement due to an oil leak.... It really leaking a lot.

Any idea what tis will cost me?

All depends on where you are, if the head is warped an needs a skim etc.

I thought you weren't meant to skim diesel heads?

All depends, you can take a little off. There are 3 thicknesses of head gaskets for diesels which can allow for skimming.

Check the head with a straight edge, torch and feeler gauge to see if it's warped.
Mine was slightly bowed so had it skimmed and all is good, have them pressure test the head also, makes sense to.

Can you remove the head yourself to save some money on labour? It's quite straight forward.
