Air Filter

Post by ads288 »

Hi,

Whilst preparing for my first longer trip on with the van - I thought I would check my vans oil , water and the like. I thought I would check the air filter and whilst opening the box , the didn't appear to be one.

As its missing - im after a replacement. Although my van is an earlyish (84) van 1.9DG its a round rather than square box.

The code on the air filter box says:

025129620a

GSF says this may fit:

http://www.gsfcarparts.com/122vg0140" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

To stop me wasting a tenna - please could someone confirm it will fit?

On a more troubling note, there was a small deposit of oil in the air filter box. Is this a sympton of a bigger problem? I also get a small oil leak from the possibly the breather tower.

oil in the airbox is not an issue...unless you cleaned it out and it appeared there again.
the breather could be blocked or the pipe kinked.
more likely someone overfilled it in the past

Is the gsf filter Mann?

Hi kev.

Yes the filter is Mann.

Thanks for the reply.

Regarding a new filter. Should it fit tight or loose? I'm guessing as long as the dimensions fit it should be OK.

Mine is an 88 1.9 dg and has a round filter
although gsf does not recognise my numberplate if I enter that vehicle it tells me that's the right one

Breather tower seal
Just don't drop anything down the hole when changing it
