Re: Eberspacher problem, guess who I'm looking for?
I know that you can fit a Webasto Airtop 2000 into your current casing with a little ingenuity, the problem is finding a petrol one secondhand. I rarely get them but when I do they are snapped up quickly.
I have around 15 diesel ones for sale (at around £275 - £300 mark depending upon model/accessories) if you are prepared to add a separate tank for the fuel.

If it helps, I've got english versions of Eberspaecher's Parts List, Installation and Troubleshooting manuals for the B2L-D2L as PDFs - drop me a PM if you want a link to download them.

Sorry - only the one for the D2L, which a nice person at Eber UK forwarded to me a little while ago.

Re: Eberspacher problem, guess who I'm looking for?
Ok, I've replaced the knackered leisure battery, no progress, replaced some choice looking earth connections, winner, we have power and the fan spins up, when I put it on heat I can hear a clicking (assume fuel pump) but no heat, switches off after about a minute? Fuel getting through as can smell it in exhaust, if it is the igniter I assume I'm dead in the water? Thank you Clift may take you up on that, very kind.

2nd try......What voltage are you getting whilst the heater is trying to start?

As close to the heater as possible (use the same earth that the heater uses also) - it is an important part of diagnosing what is happening before you move on to other causes.

Re: Eberspacher problem, guess who I'm looking for?
Thanks for all your help, it's working! Fan sounds a little rough and as you said, it needs lots of power to start! Had it running for maybe 10 mins then switched off (had to go in petrol station, not worth the risk lol). When I tried it again after I just got a click from the silver box and no life, went for a drive and tried again, all ok again, is this due to lack of power? May move leisure battery closer.
Also, it smells a bit, I'm putting it down to where it's been unused for no less than 5 years or is it something else?
Thanks for all your help, on me your PayPal and I'll send you money for a pint.

Re: Eberspacher problem, guess who I'm looking for?
You shouldn't get any smell inside the vehicle - only if the exhaust is close to an opening such as a fridge vent. I always give heaters a good 1/2 hour at least on full blast to burn off any deposits that form due to several semi starts.
Still no voltage reading? Where is your leisure battery?

Re: Eberspacher problem, guess who I'm looking for?
Voltage reading was 12.61 and dropped to 12.31, then went up to 12.51 after a while and smell started to clear after about 40 mins, kicks out loads of heat! Exhaust is on other side of camper and had water vapour coming out.
When I switched off after 40 mins the green light stayed on for some time? Tried to switch back on and had green and red light and no start again?

Re: Eberspacher problem, guess who I'm looking for?
The voltages seem ok if the engine wasn't running or battery charger connected.
Did you try turning the stat up? The temperature might have been high enough for it to not start.
You did switch off using the controller rather than just cutting the power to it didn't you?

Re: Eberspacher problem, guess who I'm looking for?
Sorry just seen previous. Engine was running will retest tomorrow with battery only. And yes I let it shut down on it's own, this time it seemed a lot better and allowed me to switch normal fan on. Turned temp right up and the fan span faster.
Looking in the vent there's loads of crap so will clear that out tomorrow.
The fan sounds a bit like a bearing might be on it's way, is it worth doing anything with it or if it's not broken don't fix it?

Re: Eberspacher problem, guess who I'm looking for?
You can replace the bearings but it isn't easy, usually it is a replacement motor. I have changed the odd bearing on Webastos but it isn't a job for the faint hearted and you may need to concoct a bearing puller to remove them as there is most probably minimal clearance (around 2mm) behind the bearings to get the puller onto.
I would like to see slightly higher voltages if the engine is running, there may be some voltage drop in the cables.
