Re: 12v trojan battery
Or fit a moderately priced Exide dual purpose (basically a starter battery) with a nice 100watt photovoltaic panel like mine. Battery £65.00 Panel £89.00 regulator £10.00. Lasts us a week with TV, DVD, w/pump, lighting, and an hour a day with the blown air heater on. We even manage to charge the odd laptop and phone with an inverter. If we go out in the van it gets a boost from the split charge relay. I am thinking about changing from a freestanding panel to semi flexible permanently fixed to the roof. I will be able to fit 3x 40 watt panels each 30cm wide by 105cm long.

Re: 12v trojan battery
I was thinking of getting a new leisure battery. After reading this thread im now thinking that the best battery option is 2 6v trojan T105s and a CTEK MXS25 charger. At some point if i want to i can add solar.
Does this make sense?
It seems a shame to waste the passenger battery box space though. I was hoping i could add one battery here and another by the engine on the opposite to the air intake for the carb.
Any ideas?

fill it with tools or hard wire a charger and put it all in there.

I don't think I can fit a T105 under the seat but I'm going to measure the engine bay. When you say tools what do you mean.
Thanks. G

Tools to fix your van with?, y'know, spanners screwdrivers, socket set, jump leads, electrical spares...whatever!

Ahh got it. Sorry was being a bit thick. Long day.
Van is at Elite VW for a few bits and pieces. When it's back I'll see where I can fit the T105s.
Since my first request about checking her out on 19th February. I have had a rear wheel bearing water pump and thermostat changed. The rest I have done my self:
Temp sensor £6
Zig wiring £0
Heater switch £6
Heater £50 ( took all day)
Clean heater matrix £0
Split charge £0
Rnr bed £100 ( built it with JK hinges)
Stereo £55 (eBay)
Seat belts £85
Fit belts £100 ( had these fitted)
Cooker regulator £9
Fridge wiring £0
Gear linkage £10
Electric hookup £0
Now looking at batteries and just ordered a fuse box with 6a & 16a trips. Does it ever end?
