Hi all,
Any one ever fitted mk3 golf gauges / speedo using the electronic speed sender on the end of the t25 cable?
Cheers

Re: Mk3 golf clocks
I was wondering this myself -
Apologies for a slight thread hijack, but just wishing to expand the query...
The Golf speedo transducer appears to be almost unobtainable so with this in mind -
Looking into fitting alternative instrument heads -
Here are some assumptions and further queries.
You'd need a method to transfer speedo information to the speedo head in a useable format. (Transducer and pulse multiplier)
The rest of the input signals for the gauges are moderately straight forward.
RJES mention a vehicle speed sensor (vss) and a callibration device - but this is for the Scooby engines.
I have seen mention of an induction sensor for the t25 cruise control stuff.
(Part number 321907344).
I was even wondering if it was worth going to a very early T4 instrument cluster.
Also just to add to the mix - the early digifiz gauges used a speedo transducer on the back of the speedo head.
And a further query (yes I've checked the wiki).
What are the differences between the numbers on the speedo dials.
That is - I have a very early van running an 805 gauge.
What scope of compatibility is there across the VW ranges?

Re: Mk3 golf clocks
805 is the number the number of revolutions the speedo cable turns in a mile
Digifiz uses a hall speed sensor @ four pulses per revolution.

Re: Mk3 golf clocks
Thanks BigHerb.
I was aware of the rpm per mile concept on other makes, but the fact that the T25 / T3 is driven from the wheel is a bit 'random' to my way of thinking.
Any ideas on an alternative compatible set-up.?
Googling 805 speedo only pulls up the T25.
Also -
I have looked into the Golf mk3 speedo - there seems to be 3 different types of speedo transducer, dependent upon the coupling / cable end used.

Re: Mk3 golf clocks
With amount of faulty electronic dashes I've changed I'm for keeping it simple. Most VW dashes from the mid nineties are Canbus controlled and are not suitable.
If I was to go down that route I might be thinking of the Smiths/VDO electronic speedo.
