where is 2nd oil pressure switch early dg 1.9 1984

Post by bobswais »

Hi,

the presure switch i found between the push rods switch is blue... and wire cam up into engine bay... i connected this to the only spare connector i could find !! before or and after doing this the oil pressure warning light comes on only once the engine has warmed up.

I cant find where the 2nd oil pressure switch is ? or any extra wires near the oil pump ?

is there any good pics of wiring and of second switch ? ,Also what value and colour should second switch be ? and lastly any good tips on fitting.....

many thanks for all your helps..

Bob

I think the early engines only had one oil pressure switch, someone will correct me if i'm wrong! If you do have two then I think this is the one your looking for! Mine as you can see was very dirty and the yellow wire that should have been attached was just free!

With no wire attached I had the oil light constantly flashing, rather disconcerting to say the least!
It's quite difficult to spot but is down close to the oil filter, you can just see in the photo. I replaced the wire and all sorted!

Thanks for reply, really helpful as a bit of a novice.

great pic many many thanks, chinese proverbs and all that....... well i now know that the engine in place is a early 1then!! it only has one !! which i have defo changed and after looking again !! there is no space for another like your pic.... but the engine that came out ( in many parts now) i found with some digging, and now i know where to look !! , did have two.

i have given up with haynes for the mo.... its done me proud as since last august have been rebuilding this wedge with very little to no experince

will have to go back to drawing board as either i have to find some electricle input for a switch/sensor that no longer exists and see if there is a way to tric it !!

reading some other posts some times there is a buzzer some where for a low or high warning, but i cant find or hear that either !!

or i guess the oil pump is potentially is really donald ducked... as far as oil levels, correct oil, filters etc..there all spot on.

again many thanks

Hi again, The oil pressure light comes on after engine warm up, and actually does not go off even if disconnected. is that just how they work ? or have i got other warning sensor somewhere or just electrical prob as again reading the cct boards in the speedo pod are not that good ? but engine sounds sweet as a nut now.....if it wasnt for this light would go for mot !!
