Well,just finished i do hope your having a nice time though
so its good in back here

but dont like the mucky stinky filler,that grease/oil will cause painty issues sooooo

now it can be painted as well
rear 1/4 panel is ok really so no point ripping it all out but this is unhappy and partly down to the guys thatdid the repair here, they ground the life out of the corner to rid the rust

so made a small bit to let in here

dont fuss over the weld, i have deliberately ran a bead proud along the outside of the corner/fold to replace what was removed before and i will then sand this to give a new profile and all should be well

these are absolute prats to do right, problem is it is the seal recess and is seen and cant really be any other that as it should be,
so first part made

that part would have been made something like as built and then this next part is the closure and you can see if you look at your own its spotted down to form the other half of the seal retainer and is also lipped in a touch,
did loads of these on andy tats round the tailgate seal

so we end up with this

i will be sanded down and tweaked a bit more but it fits fine and will be ok

and the rear wing fits nice over it, so you see if you bodge the seal bit then the wing wont fit and vice versa, also bear in mind this has to keep the edge of the rear wing correct for alignment with the slider..

that took from after tea 7 ish till 11 ish pure fiddly be happy if anyone could point me to a better /easier way? how does everybody else do them

Well, if it makes you feel any better the 5 11year olds were up at 5.45am today... Full of life they are... They will crash and burn Around lunch time though, this is when retribution will be had

whilst i post the rest up i have 2 wires ???

the single wire blue and white and comes out the loom bit along with the one for top of filter housing. i marked these and wonder why i didnt with these??

heres the shortened SS reducer , look better

heres where ive put the relay etc for the cooler fan and the vac solenoid, wires are not secured yet and as they are all coming out again soon then i will just route them and cable tie so its easier at Si's end

ive had a look at the air filter (jx) and it may fit with seriouse modifications will ponder this when its away as i can nip down and check etc as needed
need a new nut here please ,zero rush it can come with the other stuff later

have made the other part of it and it all fits nice so happy with it

i brazed part of it as it was the best way to achieve it cos its not nice welding heavy steel to thiun plate in a confined space....

rear looks good enough for me

these pattern wings are all a touch too long ,in this case its not a bad thing as we can get a tighter door gap , secret is to grip it on the innermost face and tap it in, do not go near the outer face/corner, then a skim of pod will be fine

heres one of the ways i set the rear end top , the idea is to have the new panel flush with the rear 1/4 so we dont see an ugly great lump,

here welded and im pointing at the small bit of brazing ive done on the inside as i will not have holes through filled filled with pod

secure every 6" and tack tack tack = zero distortion and job done

new metal to blasted/new metal you can just make out the braze at the top , you dont need loads and loads of welding in here, its not a towing eye etc. just enough to secure it and predrill as ive done so the spot is about 1/8" from the outside, this way you will get a nice secure and tight seam

Plug wise, I think the two wire one is for the jx aux water pump which I don't have anymore. I don't think that blue single wire was used anymore either. Think it may have been the wire for a defunct sender. Will try to have a look up after dinner for you. Back soon.....

Do you have the PN or description (make and model) of the intercooler you have used? It looks to fit vwey well in the space. Mine has sprung an internal leak so need to start again yours looks like a good starting point and you mentioned yours was slightly bigger.

Any information would be good.
