I am very likely being extremely dim here.
There are two pipes at the bottom of the rad, one pointing directly downwards and one pointing horizontally towards the rear of the van. Quite simply, I don't know which pipe is which.
Looking at the Haynes manual and the position of the pipes, I think that the downwards pointing pipe is the input pipe and the horizontal pipe is the return pipe, although this doesn't seem logical if the rad fills from the top and empties from the bottom.
Any help for an idiot would be much appreciated.
