So I'm new to watercolours boxer engines and recently brought a t25 camper. Been stood a year and 6 miles into the drive home I lost power, lots of smoke from the engine bay and there appeared to be no/little water. Smoke was burning oil and steam. So I towed it the rest of the way. At home the engine now no longer holds water, the encompasses to have melted the water seals.
So question is, can I strip her down and rebuild with new set of seals? The engine in still free and not seized.....
Thanks. Dean

You can try but there is no guarantee it hasnt done too much damage
the seal kit can be purchased for £100, worth a try IF you have the skills to do it yourself.
be warned studs can break due to corrosion especially if its been sat with low coolant and the wbx is more difficult to do head seals than a normal 4 cylinder ohv.
You may be better off looking for a second hand engine around £500 for a dg, 2.1s are hardr to come by

If it cooked that comprehensively that quickly, I'd be wondering exactly how knackered the engine was before you bought it - so a swap may well be the best bet.
From cold in six miles? Thermostat must've been stuck closed. What was the temp gauge telling you?

I suspect the thermostat was stuck closed, but I do have a 1900 rd engine kicking about with a mammoth turbo bolted to it . What would the engine conversion take to do?
