Someone at work asked if I was having the waterpump changed when having timing belt done, in the past on an old VW Golf I did, but do I need to on this van ? Of course I have no idea of the age of waterpump, I have no heating/leak issues.
where is the water pump ? Is it near the timing belt ? or about a million miles away !
and if I did change the aux belts which one ? (not the power steering) as there seem to be to different lengths for the water pump one ! 10x915 or 10x650
strange reply...................you can have opinion but I cant??..............its a service item that's changed when you change timing belts you may not like it but its what I do and that's the advice I give. where would I stop? miles away from your toolbox.

It is not as though you have to remove the timing belt to do the waterpump and a pump failure is a gradual thing that will give symptoms that would allow changing before catastrophic failure.

Must admit I don't get the point of changing it unless it's faulty. On a car it's worthwhile as its easily accessible and for a few quid potentially saves a fortune in repeated labour charges. In this case it doesn't so why bother.
